Jesus’ Blood Was Shed On Behalf Of Us

“Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.” (Acts 20:28).

There are many Christian hymns that are about the precious blood of Jesus. As a follow of Christ, you may have already heard many of them, such as the classics like ‘What can wash my sins away, Nothing but the blood of Jesus’, ‘Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb’, ‘Would you be free from the burden of sin?’, ‘There is power in the blood’. In reality, without the blood of Jesus there is no salvation.

What does The Word of God Says About the Blood of Jesus?

Based on the account of the Bible, bloodshed is the sole element that’s suitable to provide atonement of sin. Sadly, a great deal of hymnbooks along with some present Bibles have chosen to just talk about the death of Christ rather than talking about the blood. It’s important to realize that even though blood plays a very important role in providing atonement of sin, but not every type of blood can do so because the book of (Exodus 34:7) states that even if that God forgives sin along with wickedness committed against Him, the guilty still have to pay the penalty of their evil deeds. At the Old Covenant people used to offer animal sacrifices on a yearly basis due to the fact that they were not able to wipe out sin completely as Christ’s blood does.

Besides, the Bible plainly states that blood is the vital element that sustains and maintains the flesh and without blood, life cannot exist. This is so true to the extent that any part of a person body which is deprived of blood will wither and die at some point as a result. Even a doctor can literally shock you by showing you how many diseases that are related to blood one way or the other.

The book of (Acts 20:28) explicitly tells us that the precious blood of Christ that was shed on the cross at Calvary actually came from God which means that the blood wasn’t just a human blood. Therefore, this claim seems to be in direct contradiction with what Jehovah Witnesses and Mormons are claiming that Christ was just a righteous or a divine creation, whereas Christ is represented as God Himself in the real sense.

Significance of Acts 20:28

Since the old time to nowadays, (Acts 20:28) has always applied in various actual life situations. In reality, the British’s language uses the term ‘bloody’ as a fierce curse word. Furthermore, in the dark times, people had a tendency to call Queen Mary ‘bloody Marry’ and many historians falsely believed that reference had to do with the number of Christians she killed by setting them on fire for their faith in Christ. But, the term ‘bloody Mary’ was used by people in order to curse her in the blood of God according to (Acts 20:28).

The point is that the blood of Christ was shed for a very specific purpose. Its purpose was to provide an all-sufficient atonement for all humanity’s sins committed against God. The powerful blood of Christ can set you free from evil while snatching you from the crushing and controlling grip of sin by which Satan rules over people’s lives. All you really have to do is to place your faith in Christ regardless of how sinful to God you believe that you are. Christ came in order to put an end to the separation and alienation that has long existed between both God and mankind by paying the ultimate price; dying on the cross.

Why do We Need a Savior?

In closing, we all need a savior due to the fact that we go contrary to the will of an eternal God, and only He can offer us an acceptable payment for sins. The marvelous news is that Christ as God in the flesh came down to this earth and lived as a human being thereby serving as bridge between both God and man. Christ Himself has made that monumental statement which is quite offensive to many in (John 14:6) that “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” At the end of the day, because Christ came as God manifested in the flesh guarantees mankind’s salvation if they believe in Him.
